The Science of “Medicinal Food”

The term “medicinal food” comes the ancient Chinese belief that, instead of treating illness with
medicine when we get sick, we can avoid illness altogether by eating a healthy diet. The idea is that both treating illness and eating good food are essential to nourishing life and maintaining health.

In recent years, people may learn that they have a certaindisease only after receiving abnormal
test results at health checks, even though at that time they may show no symptoms. This is called a “pre-symptomatic” state and it refers to the presence of mild symptoms that do not lead to the onset of the disease. Prevention of pre-symptomatic diseases is based on the fundamental idea that the internal organs are interconnected, and that it is important to detect abnormalities while symptoms are mild and prevent illness.

At the Chaflavone Research Institute, we hope that the results of our many years of research can be used to alleviate the concerns and improve the health of people living in today’s modern world through the power of food.
